Wood and metal: building a coherent collection
A practical starting point for dining, lounge and accent furniture.
Let each material do its job
Wood brings grain and surface character; metal allows a different approach to the supporting structure. A strong collection considers both the visible proportions and the way the components are joined.
Compare references carefully
A photograph can show the visual direction, but it cannot confirm the full specification. Ask for dimensions, timber details, metal section sizes and the coating specification. Confirm which details are shown in the sample and which may change for production.
Expect natural variation
Wood grain and colour vary between pieces. Agree on the range of variation you can accept and review finish samples in consistent lighting. This is especially useful when planning a collection rather than a single item.
Connect the pieces through a few decisions
Keep a consistent finish direction, proportion or base detail across dining tables, benches and accent furniture. The pieces do not need to be identical to feel related.
